Mandolin Brassaw
Letterpress Printer

Mandolin Brassaw grew up in Oregon’s Willamette Valley and moved up the I-5 corridor to Seattle in 2010. She began to explore letterpress printing and book arts in 2005 while working on her dissertation–using it as a way to get out of her head and make something with her hands–and she has been printing in one way or another ever since. She earned a PhD in American Literature from the University of Oregon and taught at Seattle University for a number of years before leaving academia and opening Grapheme’s retail doors in 2015. Mandolin’s intention with Grapheme, and printmaking in general, is to encourage others towards greater creativity, purposefulness, and a love of learning.
